Why Play Works:
We treat children through play, as it is widely known through research to help increase motivation, decrease anxiety surrounding the situation, and build self-esteem. Occupational and physical therapy address fine and gross motor skills, self-care tasks, and cognitive and social skills. Often times, it may look as if nothing is happening in a session other than “just play”, but children learn and retain the most through play - which is their main occupation! We will create an individualized treatment plan with the “just right challenge” - incorporating family observations/reporting, standardized assessments, screening tools, and your child’s likes and dislikes.
